Sesame Seeds

Sudan is among the world’s top producers of sesame, known for its high oil content and purity.
Three main varieties are grown:

  • White sesame – premium export grade, used by confectionery and sweet manufacturers in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

  • Mixed sesame – a blend of white and red types, with higher oil content.

  • Red sesame – the richest in oil, ideal for oil pressing and industrial use.
    Sudanese sesame is widely recognized for being naturally grown and untreated.


Watermelon Seeds

Sudanese watermelon seeds are prized for their crisp texture and nutty flavor. When roasted, they become a popular snack enjoyed across the Middle East.
They are also used in oil productionbird feed, and animal nutrition.


Groundnut Expellers

A byproduct of the oil-pressing process, groundnut expellers are high in protein and used as livestock feed.
Sudan’s oilseed industry exports large volumes of expellers from groundnut, sesame, cottonseed, and sunflower to Europe and the Middle East.

 Hibiscus (Karkade)

Sudanese hibiscus flowers are known worldwide for their deep red color and tangy flavor.
Used for tea, beverages, and natural colorants, hibiscus is also rich in vitamin C and used in pharmaceuticals and health products.
It can be served hot or cold, or processed into instant hibiscus powder or tea bags.

Gum Arabic (Acacia Gum)

Sudan is the world’s largest producer of Gum Arabic, harvested from Acacia senegal and Vachellia seyal trees.
It is a natural stabilizer and emulsifier used in food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, printing, inks, adhesives, and cosmetics.
Known globally as E414, it remains one of Sudan’s most valuable exports.

 Sorghum

Sorghum is a staple grain in Sudan, valued for its resilience in dry climates.
It is used for food, animal feed, and brewing industries and is one of Africa’s most sustainable cereal crops. 

Groundnut Oil (Peanut Oil)

Extracted from Sudanese peanuts, this oil is prized for its light flavor and high smoke point, making it ideal for cooking and frying.
It’s also used in food processing and premium edible oil markets.

Sudanese Peanuts

Sudanese peanuts are a leading export crop — naturally grown and rich in flavor and nutrients.
They are used for snackingoil pressing, and food manufacturing worldwide.

Senna Pods

Sudan’s senna pods are used in traditional and modern herbal medicine for their natural laxative properties.
They are also exported for use in pharmaceuticals, herbal teas, and health supplements.

 

Cotton (Varieties: Barakat, Barac)

Sudanese cotton, including the renowned Barakat and Barac varieties, is prized for its long fibers and softness.
Used in textiles, garments, and cottonseed oil, Sudanese cotton continues to be a key agricultural export.
